Highlights from my 4th Bain World Cup…

I just came back from attending my fourth Bain World Cup a couple weeks ago and am amazed once again by how one weekend can be so much fun and energizing!  At Bain, we truly our a group of passionate people and these passions shine through… especially at events such as the Bain World Cup.

First let me introduce myself. My name is Linda Eriksson and I am a Consultant in the Stockholm office. I joined Bain in January 2010 after having studied Engineering and Industrial Management at Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. I have always been a strong promoter of Bain, and even more so after great events like Bain World Cup, so heads up that my reflections below might be somewhat biased.

What makes the Bain World Cup so special to me?

First and foremost…. The Peopleplayers on field

If you ask any Bainie what makes Bain so unique, “the people” would be his or her most likely response and I definitely agree. Can you then imagine the feeling of being surrounded by >1000 Bainies for a full weekend? I can assure you that it’s a fantastic feeling.

The Bain World Cup provides a great opportunity to meet up with people from other offices ( e.g. from my ACT, SACT an NCT trainings, from my case teams when working in London and Istanbul offices, previous transfers to the Stockholm office and people I’ve learned to know at previous BWCs.)

Despite being a global event, BWC is also a great way to catch up with people from your home office!

I love having the opportunity to meet new Baines from various offices who I will hopefully get to work with on a case team or see at an upcoming global training.

At Bain we’re really  passionate about what we do. We’re passionate and committed about our case work, professional development, Bain as a firm and our life outside of Bain. We are of course also passionate about BWC!

Bain Amsterdam had really put a lot of passion and commitment into organizing this event! Everything from the overall weekend-plan to the small details (such as the adorable juice stand at the fields, the fantastic DJs at the parties and the helpful Bainies at the registration desks) have been thought through with great passion!

It’s also clear that each team put true passion into the games on the soccer and volleyball fields.  As well as the parties each night.  Some memorable highlights are the orange costumes people wore for the welcome party, dancing in the rain in between soccer games and the overall level at the carnival evening.

And of course, the resultscalendar

Bain people can be quite competitive at times and there is an amazingly strong dedication to generate results on the fields! I’m not a professional football commentator, but if I were I would probably consider the teams in this year’s BWC to be the most results-focused teams I’ve ever observed.

The actual results from this weekend,( i.e. the bottom-line,) is that this was one of my best weekends ever and I am so  grateful for being part of this fantastic event…and even prouder to be a Bainie!

Thank you Bain, thank you Bainies and thank you Bain Amsterdam!
